Frame loom building
For a weekend project, I commissioned my husband to make a small frame loom for me to do simple weaving projects on. My grandfather built me a few frame looms when I was in my early teens and I loved them.
For this loom, we used red oak wood, but I'm thinking the next go-around, we'll use pine instead.

Hand painted roving at Lucca Dot Yarn studio in Sewanee, TN
Yesterday I had a great time with Claire Cabe of Lucca Dot Yarn, hand painting BFL and merino roving at her studio in Sewanee, TN. Wool prep and the dyeing process can be exhausting, especially when it's July in the South, but the end result is totally worth the sweat and fatigue.

New spinning wheel came in!
This week brought my new Lendrum spinning wheel to me. It took all of 5 minutes to assemble (my Ashford Kiwi 2 took over an hour), and I can't wait to fold it up to travel with me tomorrow to Sewanee, Tennessee, where I'll be dyeing yarn with fellow spinner, Claire Cabe (Lucca Dot Yarn). Get your Lendrum spinning wheel from Paradise Fibers (where shipping is always $5).
